Simple and straight to the point

My grandmother used to read cards - she wouldn't read for anyone except for me and my sister. And even when she did read, I knew she only mentioned the good. She never taught me how though. I think that she wanted to protect me - not wanting me to know of anything bad that would happen. I love her for that. She recently passed and since then, I have felt this unexplainable connection... I've always believed in the 'paranormal', these unexplainable things that happen to us. Those of us who are open and accepting- well, we encounter it (I think notice would better describe it) much more often than those who do not believe.
Well, I decided to see what I could find as far as books are concerned. I bought the book and found it amazing that although the types of spreads Chita uses and describes are completely different than those of my grandmother's, the cards I do remember the meanings to match perfectly! The book is not the end all for the craft, for the serious readers/students much more learning and intuition development is in the road ahead.
I would definitely recommend this book as a good starting point. My first reading using Chita's layouts and interpretations was undeniably accurate.

A great start- undeniably accurate

A Great Addition to Your Collection

I had purchased this booklet a few months back, and I'm glad I did. I cannot believe how amazingly accurate the readings are. The directions are very easy to follow, and the interpretations of the cards are very simple. I read tarot cards on a professional level, but I find that reading with playing cards, following Ms. St. Lawrence's instructions, are much more comprehensive. Unlike the tarot cards, where you can interpret the cards in many different ways (thereby confusing the seeker to high heaven), there is only one "cut & dry" way to interpret with playing cards -- and your readings "come to pass" within a 2- to 4-week period (on a personal level, this is what I've seen). If you enjoy reading as a means for self-discovery, or on a professional basis, this is the book for you! I highly recommend it!!

About the Author
Professor Richard W. Tresch earned a bachelor's degree from Williams College in 1965 and a doctorate in economics in 1973 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a teaching assistant prior to his arrival at Boston College. He joined the Boston College faculty in 1969 and throughout his 43-year career has served as Chairman of the Department of Economics, Director of Graduate Studies, and Director of Undergraduate Studies.

In 1996, chosen as Massachusetts Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. He was one of 585 national entrants in the foundation's US Professors of the Year Program, which salutes outstanding undergraduate instructors; its award is recognized as one of the most prestigious honors bestowed upon professors. "I am quite humbled by the award, and extremely grateful to the Carnegie Foundation," Tresch said. "The greatest honor, however, is to have been nominated by Boston College. There are so many good teachers here and to be chosen to represent them in the program is something I truly value."

A member of the American Economic Association, Tresch served on the board of editors for the American Economic Review, and has contributed to New England Journal of Business and Economics and Public Finance. He is the editor of a four-volume major reference work on public sector economics.
The third edition on his textbook, Public Finance: A Normative Theory publishes in November, 2014.

Loved it

I didn't have high expectations - the "Who Was..." series is huge, and sometimes the quality is mediocre when a publisher decides to crank out that many titles in a series. It was great, though! I have an unenthusiastic reader who had to be dragged inside to read a biography of 100+ pages and present the book report to his 4th grade class. With the exception of the time he glommed onto my collection of Hugleikr Dagsson books, this is the first time he's been excited to turn the page and find out what happened next. He laughed. He asked lots of questions. He read a whole book without grumbling. The highlight of his week was sharing with his class that this badass scientist once got the snot beaten out of her by a chimp, got thrown off a cliff, got up, dusted herself off, and got back to work. Also, her dad fought Nazis. My boy's a fan. After finishing, he was so interested in Dr. Goodall's life that I even got him to read a good portion of her autobiography, My Life with the Chimpanzees. I almost feel like I could start saving money for college instead of bail for this kid.

I have purchased many of these "Who Was" books and they never disappoint. My grandchildren love them and have even used them for school when they need to do reports on famous people. There are so many that not your run of the mill "famous" person so teachers like their choices too. I will continue to buy these books. I also read each one before I give them to the kids and enjoy them as well.

Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of compressible flows is still a widely unexplored area of research. The authors, whose books are considered the most relevant monographs in this field, provide the reader with a comprehensive state-of-the-art presentation of the available LES theory and application. This book is a sequel to "Large Eddy Simulation for Incompressible Flows", as most of the research on LES for compressible flows is based on variable density extensions of models, methods and paradigms that were developed within the incompressible flow framework. The book addresses both the fundamentals and the practical industrial applications of LES in order to point out gaps in the theoretical framework as well as to bridge the gap between LES research and the growing need to use it in engineering modeling.

After introducing the fundamentals on compressible turbulence and the LES governing equations, the mathematical framework for the filtering paradigm of LES for compressible flow equations is established. Instead of providing the reader with a general discussion about compressibility effects on turbulence, the emphasis is put on differences in scale interactions compared to the incompressible case. Functional modeling is discussed, including a brief introduction into implicit modeling from the functional perspective. The description of explicit structural modeling contains different models based on the scale-similarity hypothesis, on approximate deconvolution, and on multi-resolution concepts to reconstruct the subgrid-scale field. A central part of the monograph is the discussion of numerical methods in relation to LES. After evaluating boundary conditions for LES of compressible flows, which are much more complex than its counterpart for incompressible flows, the last chapters are dedicated to specific applications to sub- and supersonic flows, including a discussion of shock-related problems.

About the Author

Pierre Saugaut is one of the leading scientists in scientific computing (Simulation, Analysis and Modeling of Compressible Turbulent Flows), and his books are considered the most important in the field of LES theory and applications (he has been given the ONERA award for the best scientific publication in 1997,1999, 2001). He is teaching at the Pierre et Marie Curie Universite Paris.

The author has published several books with Springer ("Large Eddy Simulation for Incompressible Flows", ISBN 978-3-540-26344-9; "Introduction a la simulation des grandes �chelles pour les �coulements de fluide incompressible", ISBN 978-3-540-64684-6; "Turbulence and Interactions", ISBN 978-3-642-00261-8; "Quality and Reliability of Large-Eddy Simulations", ISBN 978-1-4020-8577-2). He is in the Editorial/Advisory Board of the Springer Journals "Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics" and "Journal of Scientific Computing".

Great book with lots of references about the subject!

The book covers all the important topic of large eddy simulations for compressible flows.

It gives a good explanation about the topics. However, if you want all the details it is necessary search for the references. Which, by the way, is quite good.
