Loved Resisting Her Rival!

Resisting Her Rival was the first book that I have read by Sonya Weiss. I have to say that I loved it! It was really a fun book that I read in one sitting. I laughed a lot while reading and loved the banter between not only Abby and Nick; but between Abby and her family as well. I usually go for the more sexy books; but I really liked how Resisting Her Rival was more of a sweet (not totally “innocent”; but definitely sweet) book.
I will definitely be checking out her other book Stealing The Groom and can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Fun addition to the series!

There’s something about a bad boy trying to prove he’s changed that always makes me sit up and take notice especially when he wants nothing more than to re-connect with the town’s good girl. However, I always enjoy a good romance and Resisting Her Rival fits perfectly into that category.
Abby Snyder and Nick Coleman both want a building in town; Abby wants to expand her diner and Nick needs a new office for his growing business but when the building owner refuses to sell to one without the other’s one giving their blessing which leads to Abby and Nick making a bet with the winner getting the business. Problem is Abby and Nick had a secret rendezvous three months ago and Nick wants nothing more than another shot at Abby but Abby isn’t willing to risk her heart again for a man; one she knows will only break her heart.
Holy smokes these two had chemistry in spades and it was evident every time they were near one another and given the nature of their bet they end up spending a lot of time together. I enjoyed their verbal sparring which was really more foreplay than anything and while their one upmanship was fun for awhile it did get a little tedious as time went on. I hated that neither one was completely honest with the other and that the dishonesty lead to mistrust.
I enjoyed being back in this town and seeing Abby’s new married sister and her husband again as well as their friends and other relatives. Resisting Her Rival was mostly a fun story and it was an easy read; perfect for escaping.

Sweet romance :)

Resisting Her Rival is a sweet romance with a side of angst.
Abby is a sweet girl-next-door type. She's responsible, determined and has her heart closed off. Nick is a man with a bay boy reputation. They spend a night together,and that's all it was supposed to be.
Then comes the rivalry for the building next to Abby's diner. Bets are on and the battle ensues.
You can definitely feel the smokin' hot chemistry between the main characters and there's a lot of intrigue that comes with that as a reader.
The only thing I felt was missing was a bit more background on Abby and Nick's pasts (flashbacks would have worked well). I think it would have allowed more connection to the characters straight off the bat. You don't find out until very far into the book the exact reasons why Abby avoids relationships of any sorts, so I was left wondering why she was always so off put with Nick other then that she's divorced. I wanted more book!
I loved their banter and wit with each other. There's definitely a lot of laugh out loud moments. The secondary characters were also very well written.
I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, lighthearted, sweet romance. Definitely worth the read.
