About the Author
Arlin Crotts is Professor of Astronomy at Columbia University and has won numerous awards for his work. Having observed objects as distant as ten billion light years and as close as the Moon, he finds the problems of lunar science particularly intriguing.

Everything moon but too scholarly

I gave this book the rating I did because it is a veritable storehouse of everything moon. The earlier chapters on the history of lunar exploration, NASA and international cooperation are fascinating, but overly detailed. Around chapter 7, the book got so bogged down in the details that I stopped reading. It appears that the authors made certain assumptions about how familiar the reader will be familiar with geology and thus I spent a lot of time looking things up, which made it harder to follow the story. The language of the book was scholarly and so not written for the casual reader. I think that readers who want detailed, textbook-like information on the moon will love the book. Casual readers however will quickly get bogged down and I don’t recommend it for these readers.
